Apex Legends Season 6 is about to be released by game developer Respawn.

The latest Apex Legends update ushers in a brand new season of the popular Battle Royale shooter.

For fans living in the UK, Apex Legends has an August 18 release date, and a 6am BST launch time. This means the update will be ready and waiting when you get up in the morning.

Indeed, if you set your consoles to auto-update games, you shouldn’t miss any of the action, as the client will automatically download and install.

Because of the time difference, US players will receive the Season 6 update at 10pm PDT on August 17.

Needless to say, the Apex Legends Season 6 update is going to be a big one. You can see the early patch notes further down the page.

The new season adds a brand new playable character, a new Battle Pass, lots of map changes, a new weapon, and so much more.

The headline new feature is the addition of a new playable legend named Rampart.

As you can see from the trailer below, Rampart is a versatile character that’s as comfortable attacking as she is defending.

Rampart is described as an expert modder, who made her name in underground fight clubs. She’s equipped with a heavy-mounted gun turret named Sheila, which can be used by anybody in the team. It’s said to have a high ammo capacity, but also long re-loading times.

Rampart’s Amped Cover, meanwhile, lets her build a crouch-cover wall that blocks incoming shots and amplifies outgoing fire. It’s rounded off with the Modded Loader passive ability, which gives the new legend increased magazine size and reload speed when using LMGs and the Mini-gun.

The map will also undergo some big changes as part of the Season 6 update. In a bid to inject some freshness into World’s End, and to improve the overall flow and gameplay experience, Respawn has made countless small tweaks, and a handful of huge changes.

This includes the addition of the Launch Site, which can be found to the west of The Dome in a previously unoccupied lava field.

“The giant rocketship stands above the center of this new point of interest, and it can be seen towering over the mountains from as far away as Refinery.

“This new drop location has four large control rooms to hold and tons of loot. Many squads should feel comfortable landing here, spreading out, and pushing across the raised catwalks and lava-filled terrain to be the last team standing.”

Elsewhere, Season 6 introduces a new area called Countdown, which replaces the POI formerly known as Drill Site.

“The design of this PoI is an imposing fortress with a tall perimeter, complete with 3 giant blast walls that can be activated to raise and dynamically fortify the approach from Skyhook, Lava Fissure and Train Yard (more on that below!)

“The large control rooms stand apart by a deep centre pit. The pit can be opened to allow access to better loot, but this is a dangerous honey pot overlooked on all sides, so make sure you control this area before going for it.”

The new season will also comes with what Respawn describes as a “boosted” Battle Pass full of exclusive new items.

Interestingly, players who don’t like their gear can build new items thanks to the upcoming crafting system.

“Hammond Robotics has been busy since the last Season, and players will finally get an in-depth look at the all-new Crafting system and map changes that will alter Apex Legends gameplay like never before.”

In addition to the aforementioned map changes and regular gameplay tweaks, Season 6 will also introduce a brand new Volt weapon, which can be seen in the trailer above.

– Both Pathfinder and Revy take less damage when in Caustic’s Nox gas.
