Lazio have asked David Silva to give them an answer today or they will withdraw their three-year contract offer for the Manchester City midfielder.

The Spaniard became a free agent after City’s shock exit from the Champions League after their 3-1 defeat to Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Reports suggested that Silva was ignoring phone calls from the Serie A club and was weighing up other options instead.

Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport have now added that Lazio have set a deadline for Silva to respond or they will withdraw the paper work and their proposal.

The Italian side offered the creative midfielder a three-year contract, which would see him earn around £3.6million-per-year, including bonuses such as a personal driver and a private jet to see his family in Spain.

Napoli, Juventus and Valencia have also showed interest in the 34-year-old, but now Silva is tempted by a big money move to Qatar.

Former Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores has insisted that Lazio would be the best possible destination for the Spaniard.

‘He can give his best in the trequartista role, linking midfield and attack,’ Sanchez Flores told Tuttomercatoweb.

‘I think he’d do well alongside Luis Alberto, with both supporting Ciro Immobile, as with David behind him, I think Immobile could score even more than he did this season.’
