Coronation Street spoilers: Adam Barlow 'destroys' Sarah as her life is changed forever

Adam (played by Sam Robertson) finally decided to call things a day with Sarah (Tina O’Brien) during last week’s instalments of Coronation Street, realising she was harbouring a secret from him about Gary (Mikey North). The hotshot lawyer has been pursuing his own investigation against the ITV soap supervillain, convinced he has something to do with the disappearance of Rick Neelan (Greg Wood). When the heartthrob discovered his wife had possible evidence linking the dodgy dealer to a possible murder, he was full of rage she wasn’t giving him the information he needed to send his love rival down. However, could this all lead him to commit a huge betrayal which will change his spouse’s life forever?

Earlier this week, viewers watched as Sarah had in her possession a watch owned by Rick which was found in the woods.

Asked why he wasn’t told, Adam lost it with his wife and said: “It would just be polite, wouldn’t it, to tell your husband you’ve become an accessory to murder.”

“This is why I didn’t tell you because I knew you would react like this,” the mother-of-two told him.”

Hitting back, the lawyer explained: “I don’t think you fully comprehend what you’ve done. You’ve lied to the police about murder.

“You know what’s worse? You’ve lied to me. I knew something dodgy was going on. I was right this whole time about Gary and you just made me feel guilty about pursuing my suspicions” he continued.

By the end of the week, their marriage was on the rocks as Sarah got rid of the watch which could have put Gary behind bars.

This affirmed in Adam’s mind she still had feelings for her ex-boyfriend, so could he have a plan of revenge on the horizon?

Having seemingly lost the toxic game of love, the lawyer could tell the police his wife lied to them about what really happened when Gary saved her from a hit-and-run.

With no other choice than to confess the truth, the mother-of-two could be arrested for perverting the course of justice.

There is some sense of guilt on Sarah’s shoulders about the way in which Rick met his maker, with Gary telling her he killed the loan shark to protect her.

Speaking about the dangerous minefield Adam’s wife has found herself in, actress Tina, 37, said: “Sarah feels a huge responsibility about what Gary did.

“He did this for her, even though it’s awful. She’s very ambiguous with Adam and doesn’t admit Gary confessed, and just says if he did do it, then it was in self-defence.

“It’s a massive error of judgment and she doesn’t agree with what he did and she hates herself for lying,” the soap star told RadioTimes.com.

The actress went on to explain her character doesn’t want to report Gary to the authorities because he is a father.

She also knows he has suffered from PTSD in the past and going to prison could be a trigger for him.

Though, when it comes down to her being put in the frame for murder, will she allow her loyalties to overthrow her own right to freedom and justice for truth?

No longer defending the supervillain, will Adam see how wrong he was to report her and she does realy love her husband?

Coronation Street continues Monday at 7:30pm on ITV.
