‘Wait, this isn’t funny,’ Anthony says as his mom finally realizes that the massive shark was closing in on her.

Sarota described the electrifying encounter to Jam Press, recalling the panic that gripped the passengers still on the boat.

He praised how Machado managed to remain calm even when the shark bumped into her.

‘We were worried and immediately jumped in to make sure Iso was okay when it changed directions,’ he said.

Sarota said they believe the it was a Nurse shark, but it was too far away to tell for sure.

He said that Machado didn’t experience the same fear as the others on the boat.

‘She was actually really happy and felt lucky to see one so close,’ he said.

Sarota posted his video on Instagram, where it quickly racked up an impressive 3.4 million views.

Nurse sharks rarely attack humans, but can lash out when they fear they’re being attacked.

Machado’s ability to stay calm under pressure likely helped her avoid a more violent end to her meeting with the local wildlife.
