American actress Melissa McBride was a star prior to landing her role as Carol Peletier on The Walking Dead. However, the AMC series has brought her a new level of fame and fandom with it. Fans are now keen to know about McBride’s life away from the cameras.
Who is The Walking Dead star Melissa McBride married to?
McBride is notoriously private and there doesn’t seem to be any information on her personal life, including whether or not she’s married.
Although little is known about her love life, it’s clear McBride is a big fan of her character Carol’s romance with Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus).
Fans of The Walking Dead have been eager for the two characters to become an item given their close friendship in the show as they take on Walkers.
McBride has shared fan art on her Instagram account depicting the romance between Daryl and Carol.
She’s also shared snaps with Reedus and some of her other co-stars to show how close the cast is.
Prior to starring in The Walking Dead, McBride had had roles in TV shows American Gothic, Matlock, Dawson’s Creek and Any Place But Home.
She had also starred in the movies The Mist, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Nailed! and Mutant Species.
For a short period of time, McBride decided to leaving acting behind altogether and become a casting director.
She initially took on the role of Carol after she was offered the part by then-showrunner Frank Darabont, whom she’d worked with on The Mist previously.
McBride told The Hollywood Reporter back in 2015 about landing the role of Carol in The Walking Dead: “I didn’t have an audition for The Walking Dead.
“I believe my ‘audition’ was my work in Frank Darabont’s The Mist. I shot The Mist, and played a briefly seen character but it was a great little part with a bit of a monologue.
“Out of the blue three years later, this call came that there was a character in a TV show that Frank was putting together and he asked if I was available. That was it.
“I didn’t know anything about it, I’d never heard of the comic book. It was a six-episode pilot and I would not be needed until the third episode.
“It was not known — or was not told to me — whether it was known or not if this character would live or die or continue on how many episodes I’d be needed for.”
She went on say how she’d never expected Carol to have lasted so long and was an outsider of the world of The Walking Dead.
McBride explained: “I went right away to buy the comics and realized there was a whole world I knew nothing about. I’d never ventured into the comics section of the bookstore.
“When they said comics, I thought, ‘Is this going to be funny? Then there’s the graphic novel and when I found The Walking Dead, my jaw hit the floor.
“I opened it up and there’s a panel of a woman getting her jugular shot out and I thought, OK, I’ll probably be her!’”
Carol has gone on quite the story arc since she first turned up on The Walking Dead and was at first a shy housewife, kept under the heel of her domineering and abusive husband.
However, following his death, Carol came into her own and became a force to be reckoned with.
Carol has been in a romance with former Kingdom leader Ezekiel (Khary Payton) but some are hoping a romance with Daryl will come into fruition at some point.
The Walking Dead season 10 finale will be airing on October 4 on AMC and later on FOX UK
