Ed Sheeran’s heartbreaking fatherhood plans amid pregnancy reveal

Ed Sheeran, 29, tied the knot to teenage crush Cherry Seaborn two years ago after they reunited in New York at ex Taylor Swift’s party to celebrate July 4 – US Independence Day. The singer is yet to officially comment on expecting a baby with his beau, 28, who he first met at school before he embarked on a career in the music industry. An insider claimed they were “overjoyed”, which supports the touching remarks made by the ‘Shape of You’ crooner about his future plans after becoming a father.

Sheeran is estimated to be worth more than £200million after he sold more than 150 million records internationally but he could be set for a giant career jump now that parenthood is imminent.

The singer stormed the UK charts with his debut album ‘Plus’ (written as ‘+’) in 2011, which featured hit ‘The A Team’ and earned him two BRIT Awards the following year.

Since then he has gone on to win a catalogue of accolades as a performer and songwriter, including penning ‘Love Yourself’ – the 2015 song for megastar Justin Bieber.

But after he sparked a romance with Seaborn, who used to work for Deloitte financial services in the US, his career has taken a gradual deceleration – noted by his decision to take a hiatus in December last year.

On a Christmas Eve Instagram post, he announced “another break again” after his success with album ‘Divide’ (÷) noting that the tour “changed his life” and said he would be “off all social media until it’s time to come back”.

He continued: “But now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world.

“I am going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of’“It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, ‘I want to be a good father’.”

If those plans are still in place, this could be bad news for fans who are unlikely to see the ‘Perfect’ singer return to performing for a while.

Seaborn, who is said to be in the final term of her pregnancy, shared the news with some of her inner circle of friends online on Tuesday (August 12) after months of secrecy.

The couple’s insider added: “Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.

“They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.

“It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival.”
