Homes Under The Hammer’s Martin Roberts speaks out on shock injury ‘Sliced through my arm’

Martin Roberts, 57, has admitted he still has “scars” after suffering a painful accident while using an angle grinder during a DIY project. The Homes Under The Hammer presenter addressed the shocking situation when a fan quizzed him on why he was seen wearing a cast on his arm during an old episode of the BBC show.

The viewer took the opportunity to question Martin on the issue during his #AskMartinMonday Q&A session yesterday.

They wrote: “Morning Martin, I’ve been wanting to know this for ages, but you appeared on an old Hammer episode with a cast on your arm.

“How did you hurt yourself? x.”

The television personality then explained he “sliced through his arm” at the time due to a mishap with the tool he was using.

Elsewhere, the property expert revealed that everything “stopped” for him professionally, as the coronavirus pandemic brought filming for Homes Under The Hammer to a “halt”.

Fortunately, Martin explained how “early on” during the lockdown, he decided to focus one what he could do, instead of what he couldn’t do.

He recalled in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk: “Everything that I do stopped. So you know, I do Homes Under The Hammer, that stopped.

“I do property training courses, which is often people getting in a room, and I do holiday lets, and they stopped.

“Also I do property renovations and things like that. For a while, they stopped, and then when they resumed, you couldn’t get the basic necessities like plaster. So you know everything I was doing came to a halt.”

The presenter was left feeling worried by the changes to his career, as he has two young children to provide for with his wife Kirsty Roberts.

He continued: “That was a bit concerning, very concerning, I’m the only breadwinner in our family, and I’ve got two young kids, so I had a panic as most people did for a while.”

Martin then decided to take matters into his own hands by creating a YouTube channel that left him feeling “really proud”.
