The Netflix series takes a number of artistic liberties from Gerard Way’s original comics, but the death of the Handler mirrors a pivotal moment when Klaus (Robert Sheehan) is shot in similar circumstances.
Much like the Handler, Klaus manages to return from the brink of death by escaping from purgatory.
