Outlander: Will Caitriona Balfe shave head for Claire Fraser plot twist in season 6?

Starz series Outlander will be making a comeback with season six. The new episodes will be using material from the sixth novel in the Outlander books series A Breath of Snow and Ashes. Content from some of the other books by Diana Gabaldon may also be used.

Will Caitriona Balfe shave her head for Claire Fraser plot twist in season 6?

WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers from Outlander season 6

A Breath of Snow and Ashes will have some huge moments in it, which are likely to appear on screens.

Outlander showrunner Matthew B. Roberts told Deadline earlier this year how “right now, season six covers book six”.

He went on to clarify: “But, as in seasons past, we always look ahead and behind to see if there’s any way to add in something we’ve missed or bring up a future bit that may be appropriate to the upcoming season.”

Among some of the biggest plot twists could see Jamie Fraser’s (played by Sam Heughan) honour being called into question when Fraser’s Ridge resident Malva Christie says he is the father of her child.

In the show, her hair appears to be less important but is still part of Claire and to have all of her hair cut off could have a big impact on her.

Whether actress Balfe will shave her head for the role is also another matter and the star may opt for a bald cap instead of lopping off her locks for real.

As Balfe is now a producer on Outlander as well as being a lead star, she is likely to have a bigger say on this decision.

Incidentally, Balfe shared snaps on social media of her own DIY lockdown haircut.

The actress is known for usually sporting a chich, bob cut and fringe when she’s not donning one of Claire’s elaborate hairpieces for Outlander.

She posted a photo on Twitter in May this year, showing a considerable amount of hair in her bathroom sink after she took scissors to her barnet.

The Irish actress captioned the photo, which she shared with her 477,00 followers: “Had to be done!”

She followed up with a selfie of her now choppy bob following the results of her shorn off locks.

Balfe went on to allay fans’ fears after she said: “You guys. Don’t know what you’re all freaking out about. Everything is totally fine!”
