Fern Britton addresses ‘difficult times’ as she marks big moment after Phil Vickery split

Former This Morning presenter Fern Britton, 63, has shared an uplifting message with her 75,000 Twitter followers as she celebrated the success of one of her books. The star revealed her novel, Daughters of Cornwall, has been in the top three of The Sunday Times Bestsellers List for seven weeks.

Fern, who separated from her husband Phil Vickery, 59, after 20 years of marriage earlier this year, then candidly said the exciting news was “proof that difficult times do pass”.

She tweeted: “What a great summer I have had thanks to you.

“#DaughtersofCornwall hasn’t left the top 3 books of @SundayTimes for 7 weeks.”

Fern went on to take the opportunity to thank her fans again for having faith in her work.

Opening up about staying in contact with Phil in a new interview with The Yorkshire Post, Fern explained she often tunes in to watch his TV appearances.

Fern added she also knew about the release of his new book – Diabetes Meal Planner: Deliciously Simple Recipes and Weekly Weight-loss Menus by Phil Vickery.

Fern told the publication: “Phil and I are in contact, in that I know what he’s up to.

“I see what he’s doing, I watch him on television, I know he’s got his book coming out.”

She continued to explain: “We have to have contact over certain agreements and at the moment it’s better to keep it like that, until everything is sorted.

“The girls miss him and I’ve told them that when lockdown’s over, I’m expecting them to get on with life and see both dads.”

Fern added: “My marriage ended on as good terms as you can in that situation.”

The star shares her daughter Winnie with Phil and is also mum to Harry, Grace and Jack from her previous marriage to Clive Jones.
