Europe second wave: Norway reimposes quarantine measures on SIX nations including France

The Public Health Institute said from Saturday, Norway will reimpose the measures for all travellers from France, Monaco, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

This is because of the rising number of coronavirus cases in those countries.

Norway will also reimpose quarantine for people travelling from some parts of neighbouring Sweden, including Skanne.

But quarantine rules will be lifted for those from other regions of the fellow Scandinavian country, including Vaesterbotten.

The UK Government had already said it would impose a quarantine on arrivals from Norway.

There are fears of a second wave of coronavirus quickly incoming, with a spike in new infections in several countries throughout Europe.

On Wednesday, France’s health ministry reported 1,695 new COVID-19 over 24 hours – the highest daily increase since May 30, when they were up at 1,828.

The number of confirmed cases now stands at 194,029.

The seven-day moving average surged beyond the 1,300 threshold for the first time since the end of April, when the country was still under one of Europe-s strictest lockdowns.

Since the beginning of august, there have been an average of 1,222 new cases each day – three times higher than June’s 435 figure but still half April’s 2,585, when the pandemic was in full swing.

France’s coronavirus death toll remains the seventh highest in the world at 30,305, following nine new fatalities over the most recent 24 hour period.
