Man Utd chief Ed Woodward has way of ending Jadon Sancho transfer saga once and for all

Manchester United supremo Ed Woodward knows a bid of £108million would land Jadon Sancho. Sure, in today’s world, it’s understandable the club are concerned about how they’d look at paying that. But the Red Devils can point to their exemplary behaviour during the pandemic and their profits behind the scenes in order to justify such a significant outlay.

As things stand, Manchester United are still battling for Sancho.

Woodward has been negotiating with Borussia Dortmund over the past week via intermediaries and no breakthrough has yet been made.

Last night, United briefed that they were prepared to walk away from the England international, deeming Dortmund’s asking price to be unrealistic.

They somewhat have a point too. Nobody wants to be paying over £100m at the current time, with the coronavirus crisis still very much ongoing.

But United can end the transfer saga once and for all by forking out the money.

And while they’re reluctant to do that, they can justify it for two reasons: their work during the pandemic and profits behind the scenes.

United, unlike their rivals, have behaved flawlessly.

And they can also justify spending big on Sancho because of the financial muscle they possess. Most of which is earned through the work they put in.

Just back in September, it was revealed the club had hit a record £627million for the year to July.

Despite the club experiencing a turbulent campaign last time out, they saw broadcast revenue soar by 18 [er cent as a result of a new Champions League deal.

And while they’re expected to be hit hard, United are still one of the most profitable clubs on the planet. Certainly the most profitable in Europe.

Their concerns over Sancho are understandable.

The Borussia Dortmund star would be a gamble at the tender age of 20, despite the obvious talent he possesses.

But United need him if they’re to be successful. Yes he’d go for a premium rate but the success he could lead them to on the pitch makes him worth the investment.

The prospect of Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes all playing together certainly seems mouthwatering.

And they could propel United to sizeable kitties via tournament triumphs.

To end the saga once and for all, they need to stump up the cash. And they have means of justifying it all if they do.
