Ben Shephard breaks silence on Good Morning Britain exit 'rumours' in candid Twitter post

Ben Shephard, 45, has stepped in for Piers Morgan, 55, on Good Morning Britain over the summer break. The Tipping Point presenter has now confirmed that “rumours” of him leaving the ITV show are “not true”.

His comments come after a social media user quizzed Ben on his future on the programme, after it was announced he would be away from the programme.

The person in question asked: “@benshephard Morning Ben, seen this morning you are leaving GMB, with rumours Declan Rice leaving. It’s all a bit of a coincidence don’t you think?”

Ben was quick to respond, as he took to the micro-blogging site and confirmed he had no plans to exit forever.

In view of his 753,000 followers, he penned: “Haha – the rumors of me leaving are definitely not true, much as I’d love to get the call up!”

Ben – who is an avid West Ham football supporter – joked he would love to get a “call up” to join the premiership club.

The TV host’s comments come after it was revealed that the presenter would be leaving GMB temporarily to work on his other television projects, most notably Tipping Point.

His co-host Kate remarked: “This is Ben’s last day. You’re having a bit of time off, aren’t you?”

To which Ben replied: “I’m not off at all. We’re about to hit peak Tipping Point – Tipping Point series 11 – and we’re back in the studio.

“He calls it working. Nobody takes it seriously – what? Asking a few questions and loading a machine?” Kate cheekily jibed.

The small-screen star commented: “I can’t hug anyone though – it’s awful.”

Ben has been the face of the popular daytime show Tipping Point since 2012.

Viewers flocked to comment on the news that the ITV favourite will be off-screen for a few weeks.
