Meghan Markle fans infuriated by huge blunder on ITV’s Lorraine: ‘How?’

Christine Lampard is one of the guest hosts stepping into the shoes of Lorraine Kelly over the summer while she takes some time away from the ITV morning talk-show. Today, Christine was joined by royal expert Russell Myers, to discuss Meghan Markle’s birthday. But some fans hit out at the programme after her name was spelt incorrectly during the segment.

Early on in the segment, a video montage of the actress was played as Christine spoke to Russell about the popular member of the Royal Family.

The accompanying text to the clip read: “Happy Birthday Megan.”

But it didn’t take long for those watching at home to notice the obvious error.

The tribute to the member of the royal family did not go down well after her name had been misspelt by the broadcaster.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “@lorraine how do you manage to spell Meghan wrong?”

A second added: “Another example of the unconscious bias against Meghan #Markle in the British #media – @lorraine not even having the respect to spell her name right just now @ITV.”

The mistake was later fixed when another clip of Meghan was shown, where her name was spelt correctly.

During the segment, Russell made another revelation about the royal couple when he spoke about their beloved pet dog, who they adopted back in 2018.

“Amongst all the headlines we’re been talking about, this is one of the things I’m most interested in,” admitted Russell.

It comes as the pair’s unofficial biography Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal, was recently released.

Despite the royal couple insisting they have not been affiliated with the book, the tell-all story gives accounts of their final royal appearances and new insight into their lives.

Meghan received well-wishes from other members of the Royal Family on social media, despite her and her husband’s move to Los Angeles.

A tweet from The Royal Family’s official Twitter account said: “Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!”

Accompanied was a picture of the Queen alongside Meghan during a joint visit to Chester back in 2018.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also sent their love to their sister-in-law this morning via their social media accounts.

“Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today!” read a tweet from the pair’s Twitter, with a picture of Meghan on royal duties attached.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
