Meghan Markle’s ‘proud to be feminist’ statement and references to her charity work as a child are removed from her bio on the Royal Family’s website – and replaced with details of her move to US with Prince Harry

  • References to women’s empowerment and her work in a soup kitchen from the age of 13-17 have been deleted from the top section
  • Second line of the ‘About The Duchess of Sussex’ section now references her move to America with Prince Harry, 35, stating: ‘As announced in January, The Duke and Duchess have stepped back as senior members of The Royal Family’
  • The previously described details of Meghan’s philanthropic activities have been moved from the bio to the ‘Charitable Work’ section of the royal’s page 

The Royal Family’s official website have deleted large chunks of The Duchess of Sussex’s biography, The Sun reports.

The page’s bio, which details senior members of the royal family’s background and duties, no longer contains large parts of Meghan Markle’s history – including references to women’s empowerment and her work  in a soup kitchen from the age of 13-17.

Meghan, 38, has no biography, and the second line of the ‘About The Duchess of Sussex’ section now references her move to America with Prince Harry, 35, stating: ‘As announced in January, The Duke and Duchess have stepped back as senior members of The Royal Family’.

The rest of the royal family, including the Duke of Sussex, still have a biography in place. The previously described details of Meghan’s philanthropic activities have been moved to the ‘Charitable Work’ section of the royal’s page.

Meghan’s bio previously stated: ‘From a young age, The Duchess had a keen awareness of social issues and actively participated in charitable work.

‘Aged 11 she successfully campaigned for a company to alter their television advert that used sexist language to sell washing-up liquid. 

‘Her Royal Highness also volunteered at a soup kitchen in Skid Row, Los Angeles from the age of 13-17.  

‘She continued to volunteer at the soup kitchen when she would return home to Los Angeles until the age of 22.

‘These early experiences helped to shape her lifelong commitment to causes such as social injustice and women’s empowerment’.

The lines describing Meghan’s early life have now been deleted, and it now introduces Meghan by her marriage to Harry, and references their son Archie, 1.

Going on to describe their step back from the limelight, it continues: ‘They are balancing their time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour their duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and their patronages. Frogmore Cottage in the UK remains their family home.’

The ‘About me’ section concludes: ‘The Duchess will continue to support a number of charitable causes and organisations which reflect the issues with which she has long been associated including the arts, access to education, support for women and animal welfare.

‘The Duchess’ official titles are The Duchess of Sussex, Countess of Dumbarton and Baroness Kilkeel.’

The Duchess’ education and career in legal drama Suits are still referenced on the page, along with her charity work and royal engagements. 

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told MailOnline: ‘The website is updated on a regular basis to reflect the work of Members of the Royal Family.’
