Dune trailer release: LIKELY first teaser arrival date shifts a week

Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic hits cinemas this Christmas. However, fans are yet to be treated to a trailer. The latest rumour from Trailer Track claimed the Dune teaser would likely land with the international Inception re-release on August 12.

But now an update on this report claims the Dune trailer is likely to arrive on August 21.

Trailer Track writes: “Palads Teatret and other Danish cinemas are removing mentions of Dune and WW84 on their listings.

“According to sources via Filmz.dk, it is said that the trailers may not be ready for the international re-release from August 12 but instead only for the US launch on the 21st.

“We suspect this is to minimise potential bootleg copies surfacing weeks ahead of the respective online launches.”

The Dune director added: “As a director there are things that can be done remotely to deal with technology.

“The supervision of VFX with some equipment is easy to do from afar but, editing, for me, the big lesson from this is I thought it would be possible to edit at a distance.

“To edit my movie [whilst] not being in the same room as my editor is very, very painful.”

Despite the issues. Dune is still set for cinematic release this December.

A synopsis reads: “In the far future of humanity, Duke Leto Atreides accepts stewardship of the dangerous desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune, the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, ‘the spice’, a drug which extends human life, provides superhuman levels of thought, and makes foldspace travel possible.

“Though Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap set by his enemies, he takes his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisers to Arrakis.

“Leto takes control of the spice mining operation, which is made perilous by the presence of giant sandworms. A bitter betrayal leads Paul and Jessica to the Fremen, natives of Arrakis who live in the deep desert.”

Dune is released in cinemas on December 18, 2020.
