Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch rivalled by a new release from Oppo

The Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch might be two of the most popular wearables on the planet but they are facing fresh competition and this time it comes from Chinese tech firm OPPO. The company has just announced the release of its new OPPO Watch range which arrives sporting a feature that could prove to be pretty handy.

That’s because along with all the usual smartwatch features such as health tracking and displaying messages on your wrist it can also be fast charged.

That means a quick 15-minutes on its dock will give you 16 hours of usage – perfect if you’ve left it on in bed all night to track your sleep patterns but then want it to power you through the next day.

OPPO is also boasting that its larger 46mm Watch is the world’s first dual-curve display which should make it look it more appeaing when strapped to your arm.

If you want the smaller 41mm option you’ll get a more standard AMOLED screen.

Both of these devices are powered by Google’s Wear OS which means they get access to a swathe of apps including Google Pay and Google Maps.

Other features include always-on heart rate monitoring and its wrist-based five-minute workouts with voice coaching should help users stay a little more active while on the go.

“With this launch, we are celebrating new ways to connect with the home, office or gym while on the move – something that will become increasingly important as we emerge from lockdown. With a battery life of up to 30 hours – that can be extended to 21 days in Power Save mode – we were determined to design a watch with our UK customers in mind that meant they were never caught short while on the go,” said Kevin Cho, Managing Director, OPPO Mobile UK.

The OPPO Watch 46mm with LTE connection is available from this October in Black or Glossy Gold for £369.

The smaller 41mm model will be available from September in Black, Silver or Rose Gold for £229.

Along with these watches, OPPO is also expanding its wireless headphones offering – launching the true wireless OPPO Enco W11, Enco W31 and Enco W51 in the UK.

The first active noise cancellation wireless headphones from OPPO Acoustics, the OPPO Enco W51 are ideal for those on-the-go, offering wireless charging, professional audio quality and intelligent touch controls in a comfortable and iconic design. They cost £89 and will be available next month.

Two new additions to the Enco series include the Enco W31 (£69) and Enco W11 (£45). OPPO says these music makers provide an exceptional user experience at a competitive price point, the Enco W11 true wireless headphones support Bluetooth 5.0, offer 20 hours of battery life and powerful bass.
