Ant and Dec announce they are ‘taking a break’ for important reason amid ITV announcement

Presenters Ant McPartlin, 44, and Declan Donnelly, 44, have been busy promoting their new book Once Upon a Tyne in recent weeks, as well as fronting their Saturday Night Takeaway show in the earlier stages of the ongoing pandemic. Today, the pair shared a post, telling fans they were taking time out to spend time some quality time with their loved ones.

The presenters shared a picture of themselves reading a magazine while relaxing with their feet up.

Ant could be seen finding something funny in the text, while Dec sipped on a beverage seeming intrigued.

They captioned the picture: “See you in four weeks.”

The pair added: “We’re both taking a break for a few weeks to spend time with family and friends.

“Wishing everyone a great month and we’ll see you at the end of August!”

Many of the pair’s 6.7 million followers flocked to their post to comment.

One user wrote: “Have a nice well deserved rest x.”

A second commented: “Have a great time, thank you for all the content throughout lockdown and the past few months it’s really kept us going. See you soon.”

A third penned: “Don’t stay away to long x enjoy your break with your families x.”

Ant and Dec’s announcement comes after ITV confirmed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be returning to screens later this year.

It had been uncertain whether the show will be going ahead this year in recent weeks, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo recently said the team are “moving heaven and earth” to try and film the upcoming series in its usual spot in Australia.

The much loved duo are also set to reflect on their careers as part of a virtual event to raise money for The Prince’s Trust.

They said in a statement: “Seeing as we can’t meet you all face to face in the current climate, we thought it would be a great idea to put on this event and see you all virtually.

“You’ll be able to ask us plenty of questions about being on the telly together for 30 years and we can share some of our favourite stories from the book.”

The television stars first rose to fame on Byker Grove in the early 1990s.

They have gone on to front shows Britain’s Got Talent, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and their very own Saturday Night Takeaway.
