The eldest daughter of Sarah, Duchess of York and Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice is the latest member of the York family to marry. In 2018 Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie also married, in a lavish ceremony at St George’s Chapel Windsor. But for her royal wedding, Princess Eugenie decided to break the royal mould to reflect a cause very close to her heart.
Princess Beatrice recently married in a quiet ceremony during the UK lockdown.
Beatrice wed her beau Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a small service in the grounds of Windsor, witnessed by her parents Sarah, Duchess of York and Prince Andrew, as well as the Queen and Prince Philip.
Although royal weddings are often very traditional, every royal bride does something a little bit differently when it comes to their big days.
For Princess Beatrice, her wedding was very unusual as the date which it went ahead on was unannounced to the public.

And unlike other royal weddings, Beatrice opted not to televise her nuptials to the rest of the world, making her wedding a much more intimate occasion.
Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, decided to put her own stamp on her wedding with her choice of wedding dress.
Princess Eugenie has been vocal about her experiences with scoliosis, a condition which causes the spine to bend to one side.
Ahead of her wedding, Princess Eugenie expressed the importance of showing “people your scars”.
For example Sarah Ferguson’s dress, designed by Lindka Cierach, upon her marriage to Prince Andrew featured symbols in the beadwork, such as anchors and waves to reflect Andrew’s sailing career.
While Eugenie opted to forego royal traditions when it came to wearing a veil on her big day, other aspects of her wedding were very traditional indeed.
Eugenie did wear a tiara from the Queen’s personal collection, as the Queen often lends royal women a tiara for their big day.
Eugenie decided on the dazzling Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara, known to be one of the most valuable tiaras in the Queen’s collection.
Eugenie’s choice of royal wedding venue, St George’s Chapel Windsor, is also an incredibly popular spot for royal couples looking to tie the knot.
