The 22-year-old underwent a medical with Everton before the lockdown but they have so far failed to finalise a deal for the centre-half.

The Brazilian is expected to make a decision on his future over the coming days.

It’s understood Lille will listen to offers of around €30million (£27m) for Gabriel.

Gabriel made no secret of his ambitions to play in the Premier League when quizzed about Arsenal’s reported interest earlier this year.

Asked whether he could see himself joining the Gunners, he told Telefoot: ‘Maybe, I don’t know.

‘But I would love to play in the Premier League.’
