PS Now August 2020 news as PS Plus free game for PS4 is released early

Sony’s release schedules have been getting a little more fluid in recent months, and that trend is continuing with the launch of August’s news PS Now and PS Plus games.

Usually, Sony’s PlayStation Plus games are launched on the same day as the latest PlayStation Now titles are announced.

But this month, PS Plus gamers haven’t been stuck waiting around for all of the new titles to go live.

So while the PS Now August 2020 announcement is still on for next week, PS Plus subscribers can dive in right away.

As revealed earlier this week by Sony, gamers can log on now and download Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered on PS4.

You don’t even need to wait for August to start to grab this new free game, which makes it pretty unique.

It should be noted that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered only includes the campaign, with no multiplayer support available.

A message from Activision that has been shared by Sony explains: “Beginning with Modern Warfare last year, the focus has been to bring players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground.

“With cross-play, releasing new post-launch maps, modes, weapons and more content drops for free, and launching Warzone, the Free-to-Play, Free-for-Everyone new Call of Duty experience, the Modern Warfare universe will expand, bringing new experiences to players.

“We’ve played iconic Modern Warfare series maps of past returning in the new Modern Warfare, including classic maps like Rust, Shipment, Crash and Vacant. Plus, in Warzone, we’ve also experienced classic Modern Warfare series locations like Gulag and Boneyard in new ways.

“Rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time.

“Can’t wait to play it? Good news: the game will be available to download tomorrow, Tuesday, July 28 until Monday, August 31.”

And for anyone wondering, the Ghost cosmetic bundle that comes with the paid version MW2 Remastered is not part of the free PS Plus download.

While Modern Warfare 2 Remastered can be downloaded and played now, the other PS Plus game for August won’t be arriving until the regular date.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will be available on August 4, the same day as the new PS Now games will be announced, and will likely include three new additions.

One of these will be an indie title, with Sony announcing last month that they hoped to support more independent developers by doing so.

Watch Dogs 2, Street Fighter V and Hello Neighbor were part of July’s lineup, and we already know that a number of games will be removed from PlayStation Now at the start of the new month.

So expect August 4, 2020, to be a busy day for PS4 gamers using both consoles and the PS Now service.
