Dead To Me season 3 finale: How will Dead To Me end? 'I know the story I have to tell’

Dead To Me first came onto our screens last year for the first season on Netflix. One year on, and the show has just been nominated for four Emmy Awards so it’s safe to say it has been a hit. However, all good things must come to an end and creator Liz Feldman already knows what’s going to happen in the season three finale.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Dead To Me.

Feldman recently announced season three was going to be Dead To Me’s next and final series.

The creators are already in the writers’ room working on the new episodes but it could be quite some time until it is actually shown.

Speaking to Deadline, Feldman said: “We’ll be writing for many months, which will buy us some time in terms of starting production.

“We’re definitely hoping to start at some point in the next six months. “Obviously anything can happen… we were always going to have a longer writing process for this final season, especially given that we’re doing it on Zoom, we’re allowing ourselves a little bit more time because it’s just harder to spend ten hours a day staring at writers in little boxes.

“It definitely is not as fun and free-flowing as a traditional writers’ room.”

How will Dead To Me end?

While Feldman hasn’t exactly outlined the details for the series three finale, she said the idea of how she wanted it go came to her during the making of season two.

She explained: “I always knew from the inception of the show that I didn’t want it to be a long long-running show.

“Then there was a certain point when we were in production on season two when the end of the show came to me, pretty profoundly, so I realized, ‘I know the story that I have to tell’ and season three feels like the right time to do that.

“It’s just something that came to me organically, and I tend to try to follow the gut feelings I have.”

In the season two finale, Jen Harding (Christina Applegate) had confessed to the murder of Steve Wood (James Marsden) to Detective Perez (Diana-Maria Riva).

She even takes her to the woods where she and Judy Hale (Linda Cardellini) buried the body.

However, she can’t remember where the tree is which she marked with a heart to identify where it was.

As Jen had been through a difficult time, Perez believed it was a mixture of stress and grief causing this reaction and so let her go and told Jen to forget the whole thing.

However, in the final few moments of the show, a hiker is seen coming across where Steve is buried but what will this mean for Jen and Judy?

Jen and Judy are then seen together driving along when they are involved in a nasty car crash.

Fans find out it was Ben (James Marsden) who hit them after being told his twin brother was dead.

But it is unclear whether or not he knew it was Jen or Judy in the car as he was speeding and had been drinking.

Realising what he had done though, Ben quickly speeds off in the hope no one finds out it was him.

While Jen and Judy are injured, it seemed they were both alright but fans are just going to have to wait to find out how this will impact season three.

Dead To Me is available to watch on Netflix.
