This year’s SDCC live events were cancelled amid the coronavirus situation in the States, but the cast and crew of popular shows such as Vikings and The Walking Dead still made appearances through video chats.

Alongside the series’ showrunner Michael Hirst, current lead Alexander Ludwig was joined by Winnick, Fimmel, Clive Standen (Rollo) and Jordan Patrick Smith (Ubbe) on SDCC’s YouTube channel.

In a discussion titled Vikings: A Look Back with the Lothbroks, Fimmel and his on-screen family discussed the popular drama’s legacy.

Historian and writer Michael Hirst has written every episode of Vikings’ six seasons, and admitted it was difficult to kill off Lagertha, one of his favourite characters in the series.
