Power showrunner Courtney Kemp address Paz and Saxe romance theory

Fans of the popular Starz drama discovered James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick’s own son Tariq shot him dead in the shocking series finale of Power. The story is set to continue with four new spin-offs, but there are still plenty of theories surrounding the cast of the original show. Co-creator Courtney Kemp took to Instagram to clear the air.

Throughout the first season of Power, drug distributor and nightclub owner James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick) tries to outrun his troubled past.

Thanks to his connections to the New York drug world, Ghost is constantly pursued by the FBI.

His criminal activity as a high-profile dealer comes to the attention of FBI attorney Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson), who tries to arrest local drug lord Felipe Lobos (Enrique Murciano), alongside Ghost.

Saxe’s pursuit of Ghost becomes personal when he falls for his lover, Angela Valdes (Lela Loren), growing jealous when she turns him down.

Answering a fan’s question, Kemp confirmed: “Were Paz and Saxe a couple? No, not at all.”

Both characters survived the latest season of Power, so there is still a possibility the pair will make an appearance in the series’ upcoming spin-offs.

In addition to exploring Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) and Tasha’s (Naturi Naughton) life after the death of Ghost, the new offshoots will continue Tommy’s journey to Los Angeles.

Book III: Raising Kanan will also turn the clock back to uncover the early life of Kanan Stark (50 Cent), alongside younger versions of Ghost and Tommy.

Most of Power’s subsequent spin-offs will take place in the modern day, however, leaving the door open for some fan favourite characters to make their return.

Unfortunately, Kemp’s comments were very definitive on the matter of Paz and Saxe.

The FBI attorney was fired in disgrace during the final moments of Power’s last season, so fans are still unsure if he will make a reappearance in Book II.

Power seasons 1-6 are available to stream on Netflix.
