Get money off your Tesco shopping with a simple change to your smartphone

Tesco shoppers looking for a new smartphone deal should consider making the switch to Tesco Mobile. That’s because the UK network has announced a free six-month subscription to Clubcard Plus for new and existing customers.

This premium service usually costs £7.99 a month, however, those joining Tesco Mobile or upgrading their current contract won’t pay a penny for half a year – but still get all the benefits. For those who don’t know, Clubcard Plus offers a number of savings, including discounts on selected Tesco brands and 10 percent off two shops of your choice in-store each month – saving customers up to £40 each time.

Those who sign-up to Tesco Mobile will also get double data on the smartphone plan. As an example, Tesco Mobile is offering 10GB of usage for £12.50 but this is boosted to 20GB for the same price as part of the promotion. The deal is also available on new 5G contracts with prices starting from £15 per month for 10GB of data.

Along with these more affordable SIM-only plans, Tesco Mobile is also offering Clubcard Plus on smartphone contracts, with the iPhone 11 available from £27.99 a month or the new Galaxy S20 5G on offer from £42.99 a month.

Speaking about the generous new promotion, Tesco Mobile CEO Tom Denyard said: “Families across the UK are looking for ways to make their money go further through these uncertain times. At Tesco Mobile we strive to find the little helps that can make a big difference to our customers, and by bringing the benefits of Clubcard Plus to mobile, we’re helping them to feed their families for less.”

Of course, once the six-month free deal is up you’ll then need to pay the £7.99 subscription fee but it’s worth remembering that this can be cancelled at any time if you don’t think you’re making the most from it.

It’s not Tesco Mobile offering new incentives. Vodafone recently announced that it’s rivalling EE and O2 with a big update to its smartphone plans.

The UK network already offers a number of gifts such as free Sky Sports and access to Spotify’s music streaming but now it’s also adding Amazon Prime and YouTube Premium to the mix.

This update is available for new and upgrading customers with entertainment plans. Amazon Prime or YouTube Premium becomes an option, alongside Spotify Premium, NOW TV Entertainment Pass and Sky Sports Mobile TV.
