Sancho to Man Utd, Havertz to Chelsea, Stones to Arsenal: Transfers we expect – Big Debate

JACK OTWAY

Jadon Sancho to Man Utd, Kai Havertz to Chelsea, Thomas Partey to Arsenal

Jadon Sancho will probably join Manchester United. Let’s face it – it’s obvious they want him, they’ve got the money to afford a deal and now they’ve got Champions League football in the bag.

Likewise, Kai Havertz to Chelsea.

The Bayer Leverkusen star is keen to make the move to the capital and his sister has already confirmed he’ll be moving there. It’s only a matter of time.

Arsenal are going to have a rough time of things. They’ve been pretty woeful, let’s be honest, and aren’t the superpower they once were.

But I still think they’ll get Thomas Partey. He wants to come and that works in the Gunners’ favour.

MATTHEW DUNN

Kai Havertz to Chelsea, Jack Grealish to Man Utd, Donny van de Beek to Real Madrid

Having been banned from transfer activity, Chelsea seem to be making up for lost time and the club have a renewed determination, it seems, to make it clear they are still among the biggest players when it comes to competing for the big names.

The sense of purpose and joy Frank Lampard has brought back to Stamford Bridge seems to have filtered right up to the top of the club and a project that seemed to be going stale now has new life.

With Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already in the bag, the 21-year-old is said to be close to agreeing terms now Champions League football is assured.

Grealish to United may take longer. The player and buyer are keen and Villa won’t stand in his way, but the transfer fee may be ticklish.

United have big ideas but a philosophy that prices have to drop after Covid-19 – and may be reluctant to meet Villa’s £70m valuation. If the market does indicate a lower price might be more appropriate, expect United to snatch him right at the end.

Donny van de Beek is another who has been linked with Old Trafford. However, with Paul Pogba looking more settled for the moment and Kylian Mbappe now looking set to be Real Madrid’s marquee signing for 2021, not this year, the Spanish giants should splash out on the Ajax midfielder instead with Luka Modric not getting any younger.

JAMES WALTERS

Kai Havertz to Chelsea, Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho to Man Utd

Kai Havertz to Chelsea has gained traction in recent weeks and the Blues will likely sign the German after securing Champions League football for next season.

Havertz will slot into Frank Lampard’s starting XI alongside his Germany team-mate Timo Werner as Chelsea aim to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

While Havertz will likely head to Stamford Bridge, Lampard should then focus on improving that shaky defence.

Like Chelsea, Manchester United will spend big this summer in hope of catching Liverpool and City.

The signings of Sancho and Grealish fit United’s transfer philosophy of landing young, British talent.

Sancho would be a perfect fit on the right wing at Old Trafford, while Grealish has proven his worth by keeping his boyhood club Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Said Benrahma to Leicester, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to Tottenham, Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona

Leicester are crying out for a winger and there aren’t many better options on the market than Benrahma, particularly if Brentford do not get promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

There are shades of a right-footed Riyad Mahrez when he beats a man and cuts inside. It’s the one area where the Foxes have been lacking this season with Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez shafted to the flanks.

Meanwhile Højbjerg seems set on moving to Tottenham, despite travelling to Merseyside for talks with Everton. He was left out of the Southampton squad for the final day of the season against Sheffield United and represents good value for Jose Mourinho at 24, with one year remaining on his current deal.

Finally, all roads point towards Lautaro joining Barcelona, despite Inter Milan’s determination to keep him. It’s been a terrible season for the Catalan giants and there will be pressure on the board to spend from Lionel Messi. He could be the man to replace Luis Suarez.

LUKE GARDENER

Jadon Sancho to Man Utd, Kai Havertz to Chelsea, John Stones to Arsenal

Manchester United finished third in the Premier League which should mean they go all out for Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window.

I expect negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to drag on but eventually Ed Woodward to get an important deal for the club over the line as they chase Liverpool and Manchester City.

Kai Havertz seems like a certainty to Chelsea who have already brought in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

The Bayer Leverkusen has been compared to Michael Ballack and will add even more quality to the attacking ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City clearly don’t see John Stones as a top tier defender but Arsenal are crying out for someone with quality on the ball and someone who could flourish.

Mikel Arteta knows Stones well from his time at the Etihad and could get a good deal out of Pep Guardiola for the England international this summer.

JAMES BENSON

John Stones to Arsenal, Craig Dawson To Burnley, Max Aarons to Tottenham

John Stones’ time at Manchester City appears to be coming to an end and he’ll be desperate to move to another high-profile club if he is shown the door at the Etihad.

The England centre-back knows Mikel Arteta from his time at City and, with Arsenal in need of more quality in defence, it’s a deal which makes sense.

Craig Dawson, meanwhile, might be looking to make a swift exit following Watford’s relegation and could head back to his northern roots with Burnley – where Sean Dyche is a keen admirer.

The Clarets need to offload outcast Ben Gibson and a part-exchange deal involving the two defenders may be in the offing if the Hornets still like the look of the former Middlesbrough star, who they wanted in January.

Max Aarons is another player who’ll be considering jumping ship following relegation to the Championship and the Norwich full-back is on Tottenham’s radar.

Express Sport has reported Jose Mourinho is a big fan of London-born Aarons and team-mate Ben Godfrey, so a double summer raid may be in the offing as Spurs seek to freshen up their squad.
