Simon Rimmer: Sunday Brunch chef reacts to ‘ageing’ remark after clashing with viewer

Sunday Brunch chef Simon Rimmer, 57, shared a picture of himself excitedly poking his tongue out for the camera as he cooked for customers at his Greens restaurant in Manchester earlier this week. The presenter could be seen standing in the kitchen while wearing an apron in preparation for the fully-booked day ahead.

In view of his 271,000 Twitter followers, he wrote: “Here we go full house @greensveggie tonight.”

One of his fans commented: “Good luck – and do you NEVER age? x.”

But seemingly disagreeing with the latter, Simon replied: “I looked old 20 years ago Lyd x.”

The person in question responded to the chef shutting down his ageing remark.

They wrote: “Please stop saying ‘like so’ it sounds absolutely stupid and it’s driving me mad, I’m not paying attention to what you’re cooking because of it.”

Hitting back, the father-of-two wrote: “If that’s all you have to worry about your life is pretty perfect I’d say? Like so.”

“I didn’t ask you for your opinion on my life,” the Twitter user replied.

Clarifying his point further, Simon added: “No you didn’t I offered it for free. Expressions such as ‘like so’ are our punctuation.

“On live TV with instruction in your ear and recipes to structure and other people talking to you.

“You need a second to reset. That’s why we do it. We’re just chefs trying to entertain like so.”

The Twitter user went on to refer to Simon’s terminology as “totally stupid”.

They added: “You never hear some of the better chefs saying it. Gordon Ramsey for one and many more that I watch.”(sic)

Laughing off the comment, the chef replied: “Ha ha ha! yes of course.”

Sunday Brunch continues today at 9.30am on Channel 4.
