Naya Rivera's ex husband Ryan Dorsey breaks his silence on the Glee actress' tragic death

Ryan Dorsey broke his silence on Saturday regarding the tragic passing of his ex wife Naya Rivera.

Rivera was confirmed dead nearly two weeks ago after going missing during a trip to Lake Piru with her and Dorsey’s four-year-old son Josey on July 8. She was 33.

In an emotional post shared to his Instagram, Dorsey expressed heartbreaking disbelief over the loss of Rivera as he vowed to keep her memory alive for their young son.

‘This is so unfair…there’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts. I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it,’ began the 37-year-old Ray Donovan star.

‘You were just here… We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn’t fair. I don’t know what to say…I’m thankful for our times and our journey that brought us together and gave us the sweetest and kindest smart little boy we could ever hope for.’

Dorsey went on to reflect on all the times that Rivera would ‘get annoyed’ at him for filming her on the app Snapchat.

But now that she has passed on, Dorsey could not be more thankful for all of the moments he was able to preserve for their four-year-old son.

‘I remember sometimes you used to get annoyed at me: “Ryan can you stop snap chatting!” Haha. I’m glad I didn’t listen to you because I have hundreds and probably thousands of snaps and videos that Josey will have forever and know his momma loved him more than life, and how much fun we had together as he was growing up,’ explained Dorsey.

Keeping her memory alive: 'Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us. He'll never forget where he came from. We miss you. We will always love you. Love you Meep,' concluded Dorsey; Naya pictured with her son Josey, four, in 2019

After concluding his open letter to his late ex wife, Ryan went on to thank followers, fans, friends, and family who have actively reached out him during this unimaginable time.

‘To everyone that reached out and I haven’t had a chance to or just didn’t get back to you…thank you all for the overwhelming love and support you’ve sent our way,’ he wrote.

Ryan reminded his following that their ‘Time on Earth is precious,’ before urging them to not only be kind to themselves, but to ‘be kind to others’ as they journey through life.

‘I’ll just say in closing, be kind to yourself, be kind to others, forgive…forget…don’t hold grudges….if you have nothing nice to say maybe try not to say anything.

‘There’s peace in silence. Time on Earth is precious and you just never know….you never know what could happen. Hold your loved ones close, and cherish the times you have with those you care about,’ concluded Dorsey.

He also included a personal photograph of Naya cradling their son Josey, who they welcomed into the world in 2015.

Ryan and Naya were married from 2014, until their divorce in 2018.

Their shocking nuptials in 2014 came less than three-months after Naya had split from her rapper boyfriend Big Sean, 31.

Ryan and Naya endured a tumultuous marriage, including an incident in 2017 where Naya was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, according to People.

Nickayal described herself and Naya as ‘complete opposites’ who somehow shared a common unity, due to their sisterly bond.

‘We were complete opposites, yet simultaneously the same. The yin to my yang. I never knew that by losing you, I would find so much of you in myself. ⁣’

She admitted that her world has been ‘turned upside down’ by Naya’s death and that her admiration for the Glee star will never dwindle.

‘I’ve never known a life without you in it & still can’t imagine it. My world is turned upside down. But through it all, everything we were, we are still. I’ll always look at you with the same eyes as I did when I was young.

‘My shmaya, I’ll love you for eternity & miss you every second of my life,’ concluded Nickayla.

Naya Rivera went missing on July 8 of this year at Lake Piru, which is located to the north of Los Angeles.

Her son Josey – who had joined her for the lake trip – was found alone on a pontoon boat on the lake.

After a five-day search, her body was recovered from the water and an autopsy concluded that her death was by drowning and that it had been an accident.

According to local law enforcement, the actress had propelled her son onto the boat after they went for a swim but failed to get out of the water herself.

Naya is known for her role as Santana Lopez on the popular television series Glee, which aired on Fox from 2009 until 2015.
