Tamar Braxton’s boyfriend David Adefesco said that the singer is undergoing medical attention amid ‘an extremely difficult time’ amid what has been reported as a possible suicide attempt.

‘On behalf of Tamar Braxton, I want to thank her fans and the public for the ongoing thoughts and prayers,’ Adefesco told The Blast in a statement on Wednesday.

‘Tamar is a beautifully talented woman, a devoted mother, a loving girlfriend, a dear sister and a special friend to countless people,’ said her boyfriend of two years. ‘This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles including her battle with depression.’

Adefesco said the 43-year-old songstress ‘is currently receiving the best available medical attention to address those struggles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side throughout her treatment.’

Adefesco said that ‘mental health is a common issue, affecting 1 in 5 Americans,’ and imploring the Love And War singer’s fanbase to ‘continue to send prayers and hope as [she] continues the path to recovery and ultimate happiness.’

He concluded things in saying, ‘We ask to please respect Tamar’s privacy, and her family’s privacy, during this important time of healing.’

Adefesco was heard in a 911 call earlier this week on TMZ telling authorities that he’d found Tamar, who is the younger sister of R&B staple Toni Braxton, unresponsive in a room at the downtown Los Angeles Ritz Carlton, noting that she’d ‘been drinking’ and was ‘on medication for depression.’

Adefesco hinted at problems between the Maryland native and WeTV, who she works with on the show Braxton Family Values.

The All the Way Home songstress ‘was very angry earlier on’ as ‘she’s had trouble with the network, the company she’s working with, and they did something today … and it’s come to this. They’ve taken away her happiness, everything.’
