Kate Middleton uses 'refreshing' parenting technique 'unheard of' in the Royal Family

Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 38, have been married for nearly 10 years. They have three children together and the Duchess of Cambridge has frequently spoken about parenting. What techniques does she use?

Kate and Prince William welcomed their first child, Prince George, on July 22, 2013.

Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015 and the royal couple had Prince Louis on April 23, 2018.

While Kate will often protect the privacy of her children, the youngsters have occasionally joined the Royal Family at public events.

The Duchess of Cambridge has also delighted parents in the past by sharing her own parenting experiences.

Even during the coronavirus crisis, the couple opened up about their family struggles, parenting expert and managing director at Kiddies Kingdom Mohammed Patel explained.

He told Express.co.uk: “Kate and William’s role in the pandemic was an example of their down to earth approach, as it seemed even the Royal Family couldn’t escape what was the chaos of home schooling.

“They have openly admitted that parenting has its ‘ups and downs’ but work hard to support each other through every milestone, no matter how big or small.”

Last week, Kate appeared on BBC Breakfast to support the launch of Tiny Happy People, which provides resources to help parents and carers develop children’s language.

DON’T MISS

This is one of many campaigns that the royal has championed that focuses on the wellbeing of children.

While there are many royal traditions, Kate and Prince William could be setting themselves apart in the family by speaking so openly on parenting issues.

“Kate and William have always shown an interest in mental health and wellbeing,” the expert continued.

“Their honesty in talking about her own struggles is refreshing and, in some way, unheard of for the Royal Family.

“Kate never shies away from talking about uncomfortable topics and her parenting style reflects this, making sure she is as open and honest with her family as possible.

“Whilst it is important not to overwhelm children, instilling clear communication from a young age will help them feel confident and independent enough to make their own decisions.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seem to have encouraged their children to speak openly about their feelings.

Like many royals, Kate and Prince William will often do charity work.

By supporting organisations and campaigns that focus on the wellbeing of children, the expert suggested Kate is teaching her children how to help others.

Mohammad added: “Kate has always had a passion for charity work and giving back and, where possible, is beginning to involve her children in this process.

“With this, Kate is teaching her children the importance of helping others less fortunate and using their roles for good, which in turn instils gratitude and respect from a young age.”
