Bungie will be bringing back its prime PvP mode in the coming hours, as the weekly return of Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris draws near. The Competitive Crucible Playlist will boast the same rules as previous weeks but it won’t be clear what rewards will be made available until fireteams start clocking up the wins. What we do know is that there will be plenty of new loot to earn and a lot of competition to try and make it to The Lighthouse. Season of Arrivals has been extended over the coming months due to the Beyond Light launch being delayed until November.
That hasn’t slowed down the arrival of Pyramid ships, with more surprises in store for Guardians in August and beyond.
For today, the main event will be the Trials of Osiris, which will be unlocked in the coming hours and running until the weekly reset on Tuesday, July 28.
The popular crucible playlist will be launching at the same time across PS4, Xbox One and PC, meaning there should be plenty of Guardians taking part.
Trials of Osiris will be launching at 6pm in the UK on July 24, and gamers won’t know the map selection until they drop in.
The first information shared will be from Guardians, who will be able to confirm the first loot unlocks and the map selection almost straight away.
The rest might take a few hours to find out, but we’ll be sure to update this story as soon as we know more.
Meanwhile, Bungie has confirmed its plans to release future expansions of Destiny 2 in partnership with Microsoft.
The two companies are joining forces to bring Destiny 2 to Xbox Game Pass this fall.
With an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, players will have access to the standard edition of each expansion, beginning with Forsaken and Shadowkeep (available September 2020) and Beyond Light (available beginning on November 10, 2020).
A message from Bungie adds more about Destiny 2 coming to Xbox Series X, revealing: “Later this year we will be releasing a version of Destiny 2 that will be optimized for Xbox Series X, including 4K resolution and running at 60 frames per second.
“Players who already own Destiny 2 on Xbox One will be able to transfer their game to Xbox Series X for free via Smart Delivery. In addition, for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, players will be able to stream Destiny 2 on their Android mobile devices via xCloud.
“All content on Destiny 2 remains available to all players, on any platform, and is going to be available at the same time – there are no content exclusives on any platform.”
The one thing that needs to be noted is that when these upcoming Destiny expansions leave the Xbox Game Pass, Guardians who play it via the subscription service will need to buy them if they want to continue playing their content.
Back to what is happening today and returning players will want to visit Saint-14 just after 6pm for the new Trials event, who will be located in the Tower Hangar.
The Osiris reset offers a new inventory of Trials Passages, Bounties, and the option to turn in Trials Tokens.
A different map and a fresh set of rewards will be available to Guardians today if they meet the requirements of the 960 Power rating needed to buy Passages.
As ever, Trials fans will earn exclusive rewards by defeating other teams of three, while hoping to gain entry to the Lighthouse.
