Bowers & Wilkins might be known for its luxurious audio products, but the firm has extended its partnership with TP Vision to bring more OLED televisions – and some smaller LCD panel televisions – to compete with the likes of Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Hisense and more.
Netherlands firm TP Vision also designs and distributes Philips-branded TVs, like the popular Ambilight range that can sync with your Philips smart bulbs to tune the light in the room to fit with whatever is happening on-screen. Bowers & Wilkins started their partnership with the Amsterdam firm back in 2018 to launch a number of OLED television. B&W provides the audio solution for the TV.
That means viewers should expect a serious step-up from the usual tinny speaker that you’ll find fitted to your flatscreen television. It might even ensure you don’t immediately have to head out to buy a soundbar, like the excellent Sonos Beam or Sonos Arc.
Bowers & Wilkins and TP Vision will launch new Philips-branded OLED TVs in the second half of this year… or anytime now, in fact. These should have all of the audio prowess we saw from earlier collaborations. As part of the renewed partnership deal, Bowers & Wilkins will lend its ears to more affordable LCD televisions from TP Vision, too.
With prices for the Philips 65OLED984 – one of the first televisions to launch as part of the partnership in 2018 – sitting at a cool £2,799, then a couple of more affordable LCD TVs won’t go amiss. Like the pricier OLEDs, these LCD panels will support the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats.
Fingers crossed that the latest collaboration between these brands doesn’t take too long to appear on store shelves. After all, with millions of us spending more time cooped up indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic, it seems like the ideal time to invest in a serious upgrade ready for the next movie night with friends and family over Zoom, or boxset binge on Netflix.
