  • Winger is being ‘monitored’ by Liverpool as possible back up to front three

Liverpool are ‘monitoring’ Watford winger Ismaila Sarr ahead of a possible move for him this summer.

The Hornets are facing a huge fight for Premier League survival having slipped into the relegation zone after defeat by Manchester City and Aston Villa’s win over Arsenal.

A number of talented stars could be on the move from Watford this summer, particularly if they go down and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Sarr’s situation, as reported by the Mirror.

Sarr, 22, joined Watford from Rennes for £30million last summer and has been one of the club’s stand-out players, despite their predicament.

The Senegalese scored five goals and chipped in with five assists in his first campaign in the English top flight.

Jurgen Klopp is not expected to conduct a huge amount of transfer business this summer but may want back-up for his relatively thin squad.

The front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah are nailed on starters but behind them there is a lack of strong options on the bench.

Sarr could provide much-needed reinforcement and the Reds may believe they can secure him on a cut price deal, particularly if Watford are relegated.

Having sacked Nigel Pearson, they were hammered 4-0 by Manchester City and will go down if they do not better Aston Villa’s result on Sunday when they take on Arsenal.
