'It's extraordinary' GMB host blasts Labour MP for taking '12 weeks holiday'

After probing the Shadow Home Secretary about Russian activity in the UK at the time of the EU referendum, Ranvir Singh was keen to find out if Mr Thomas-Symonds thought it was a good idea for MPs to go on holiday during an ongoing pandemic. Singh didn’t hold back as she blasted the Labour MP for taking a recess of 63 working days this year.

She began: “You do get about 12 weeks of holiday as MPs, don’t you? That’s an extraordinary amount.”

“It’s not a 12 weeks holiday, what I think you mean is parliament isn’t sitting for 12 weeks,” Thomas-Symonds hit back.

“But obviously on days when parliament isn’t sitting you’re still doing substantial amounts of work.”

Those tuning into Good Morning Britain were also shocked to learn how long MPs take off for a holiday.
