Tesco, Asda and Marks & Spencer introduce new online delivery options for shoppers

Tesco, Asda and Marks & Spencer have updated the delivery services that are available for customers. This is what has changed at the supermarkets.

It is partnering with zero-waste shopping service Loop to deliver 150 items in reusable containers.

The service will only be available for those who order their Tesco groceries on the Loop website.

There are 150 items available and the packaging will then be returned once the item is finished.

Tesco Group chief executive Dave Lewis said: “Through our closed loop strategy of remove, reduce, re-use and recycle, Tesco has a clear ambition to reduce packaging.

“Our ground-breaking partnership with Loop has been designed to test a new way of helping customers use less plastic and explore the exciting potential of re-use.

“We will learn what works at scale as we develop plans with Loop to introduce reusable packaging into our business.”

Asda delivery rules

The supermarket giant is trialling a scheme with Uber Eats that offers speedy delivery.

Those who sign up can pick from more than 300 Asda products including fruits and vegetables, ready meals and drinks.

The items can be ordered on the Uber Eats app and will be delivered on the same day.

This is currently being trialled in Pudsey, Leeds, and Barnes Hill, Birmingham.

Vice president of online grocery at Asda Simon Gregg said: “We’re pleased to be partnering with Uber Eats to trial a rapid grocery delivery service for customers in Leeds and Birmingham.

“This will give Asda customers more choice in how they shop with us and offer yet another way to quickly and conveniently get their favourite branded and own-brand products delivered to the doorstep.

“Customers can use the Uber Eats app to select from hundreds of items for delivery in the same way they would shop for a takeaway.”

Marks & Spencer delivery rules

During the coronavirus crisis, the retailer introduced a new way for customers to get M&S food products delivered straight to their doors.

Using the Deliveroo app, shoppers can pick from a range of essential items from more than 100 stores.

A statement from Marks & Spencer said: “We’ve partnered with food delivery company Deliveroo to help give our customers access to essential groceries and some of their M&S favourites and treats.

“This new service is available across selected M&S stores and in over 100 BP M&S stores – it’s just one of the many ways we are supporting our customers and communities during these unprecedented times.”
