Jurassic Park fans will get the chance to catch up on the entire original trilogy before the new movie comes out. The latest film in the franchise will see Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum reunite in the most spectacular reboot of the century. Of course, the Jurassic World movies have been enjoyable – but will Netflix provide the classic trilogy for fans to re-watch?

When are first three Jurassic Park films coming to Netflix?

Luckily for UK fans, this day has already passed, as the original trilogy of the Jurassic Park franchise arrived on the platform back in July 2020.

They were first made available on the platform back in April 2019, when Netflix tweeted: “Our scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

“But they did. They added the original Jurassic Park trilogy to Netflix.”

Previously, the trilogy was nowhere to be found, due to a licensing change which meant the films were only available on the NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock.

However, this has now ended, and the movies returned to Netflix in the UK at the beginning of Netflix.

With this being said, American fans have something to look forward to as well, as the movies will be added to the USA Netflix on August 1, meaning fans across the Atlantic will also get the chance to play catch-up before the franchise’s original trio reunite.

As for Jurassic World 3, director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed the new movie will be released on June 11, 2021.

Of course, this is assuming the production continues without a hitch, as coronavirus has forced many movies to go on hold while people self-isolate and socially-distance.

This does mean fans will have a little while to wait for the new film – however it will be well worth it when they discover the cast.

Of course, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return as dinosaur trainer Owen Grady and ops manager Claire Dearing respectively.

Goldblum’s arrogant researcher Dr Ian Malcom featured in the first two Jurassic Park films, and made his return to the franchise in the second of the new trilogy: Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.

Neill and Dern, who played Dr Alan Great and Dr Ellie Sattler, featured in the first and third Jurassic Park films, and have not yet returned to the franchise.

So far, the only character who has reappeared in the Jurassic World franchise from the Jurassic Park films is Dr. Henry Wu, played by BD Wong, and he is expected to return once again – meaning four characters from the first film will have come back.

Details on the plot of the film have been kept under wraps, until director Colin Trevorrow opened up at the screening of his Jurassic World short film, Battle at Big Rock.

He told Collider Battle at Big Rock “takes place one year after the events of Fallen Kingdom”.

He said: “It’s about a family on a camping trip to Big Rock National Park, about 20 miles from where the last film ended.

“There have been a few sightings, but this is the first major confrontation between dinosaurs and humans.”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Trevorrow said the third film “will be focused storytelling with dinosaurs all over the world.”

He said: “We really wanted this technology, this genetic power, to go open-source at the end of the film.

“What we’re suggesting is not just that these specific animals that we care about that were in captivity were freed, but also that the ability to create these animals has gone a little bit wider than our friend Dr. Wu.

“The open-sourcing of any technology, like nuclear power, that’s the scary side for me.”
