PS5 pre-order update good news for PlayStation 5 fans waiting on price announcement

Sony have been busy releasing new content for the PS4 this year which has no doubt been keeping console owners busy. But gamers are also eager to learn more about the price of the PS5 and when they will get the chance to pre-order one. So far, there has only been a few snippets regarding controllers and PlayStation 5 pre-orders shared this month. There were hopes last week that something was about to happen due to a change to the console’s Amazon Placeholder page. However, while Sony has not revealed anything new regarding how much it will cost to buy a PlayStation 5, there have been some other interesting updates.

Some of the latest news connected to the PS5 release comes from official sources, while gamers have uncovered other details.

One interesting detail that has been found by gamers is that while PS5 Pre-Order pages are not yet live, certain features are already in place.

This reportedly includes stopping people buying more than one PlayStation 5 console at a time.

This has been found on the official PlayStation site and includes an error message that warns why specific actions cannot be completed.

The error message found that is reportedly part of the site reads: “You can only purchase one version of the PS5 Console: Disc or Digital. You have already added one PS5 console to your cart.”

It’s good news for fans, as it means that no one can take advantage of the system and buy up many consoles so that they can be sold on at a profit due to a shortage later down the line.

This is just the latest hint that Sony is preparing to launch PS5 Pre Orders, even if it might not be happening this week, or even later this month.

Sony have not committed to any schedule for when this information will be shared but they have confirmed it probably won’t just pop up out of the blue.

PlayStation’s worldwide head of marketing Eric Lempel shared the latest on the situation during a conversation with Geoff Keighley earlier this month.

Lempel said: “I think it’s safe to say that we’ll let you know when pre-orders will happen.

“It’s not gonna happen in a minute’s notice.”

One UK retailer is offering PS5 fans the chance to reserve their slot in the PS5 pre-order queue.

Right now Base are letting PS5 gamers reserve a place in the PlayStation 5 pre-order queue, although it will cost you a penny.

They are also letting gamers do this for a range of PS5 accessories, such as the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset and an extra DualSense controller.

But Base has emphasised that this is not the same as a pre-order. They said: “‘Placing an order’ for this is not purchasing this console.

“This is just to register your interest and reserve a place in the queue for your pre-order.”

Sony has been slow in sharing details about the PS5 and there is still plenty that hasn’t been revealed.

Explaining the reasoning behind that, Lempel made it clear that the PS4’s success had set certain expectations, adding:

“Coming out of PlayStation 4, all of the success we’ve seen, and the fans’ passion for the brand, we really wanted to make sure we delivered strongly with PlayStation 5.

“As we’ve said many times, PS5 is truly a next-generation console. It’s a leap ahead. And we wanted to wait for the right time when everything lined up.

“And I think, and I hope, that fans saw that we had a great mix of content from our partners and our studios, and that we delivered on expectations.”
