Mercedes supercar worth £65,000 destroyed at Birmingham Airport car meet and greet firm

A car meet and greet service based near Birmingham Airport handed back an owner’s keys with £20,000 worth of damage after the owners dropped their car off to be looked after while they were on holiday. Owner Jay Tranter paid £52.94 for a meet and greet service with a company called Car Parking Birmingham Airport, registered as car Park Birmingham Ltd.

“This car is worth £65,000. It’s beautiful and turns heads wherever it goes as it’s that type of motor. I’ve always had nice cars, but this is the best one I’ve had.

“It makes me feel annoyed. It feels like you can’t have anything nice nowadays. I feel like from what I’ve experienced now that the entire country is lawless.”

The Birmingham Car Parking website says drivers can enjoy the convenience of a “hassle free commute” by using their service.

They claim their chauffeurs are “professionally trained” and “perform their duties vigilantly” at all times.

The company says they are a “reliable” service and lets motorists “skip the hassle” of parking their vehicle.

They also confirm each car will be stored in a well lit and fenced off compound and will be secured 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Speaking to Birmingham Live, Manager of the firm Amjid Khan confirmed the car was vandalised on July 9.

He also revealed a 2016 plate vehicle, worth more than £100,000 had been vandalised the following morning.

He said the business was taken over by a new owner on July 10 on the day he took over the job.

He said he has “apologised“ to the owner 100 times and have ensured similar incidents would not be allowed to happen again.

He has reassured customers that he put up CCTV cameras and 24 hours security in place as soon as he took over the role.

He even said he told staff to put the owner’s expensive car out of view from thieves at the back of the compound.

West Midlands Police have said: “We’re investigating after vehicle parts were stolen from a Mercedes on a car park in Mackadown Lane, Tile Cross, between 8-10 July.

“Enquiries are being carried out and anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat, or by calling 101. Quote crime reference number 20BE/163742Q/20.”
