Apple iPhone 12 set for most controversial change ever, but will you loathe or love it?

It may seem like an utterly ludicrous decision, but there’s a very important reason why the US firm might be considering this change. With most iPhone owners upgrading with two-year mobile phone contracts, or upgrade schemes like the Apple Upgrade Program, many iPhone fans already have plenty of USB-style plugs and Lighting charging cables clogging up drawers.

In fact, it’s actually a growing problem, with reports suggesting that electronic waste could account for as much as 300,000 tons of plugs and cables alone each year. That’s a lot of rubbish that could be stopped by simply not placing them for free in the box in the first place.

There is, of course, another important way this change could help the environment as it will allow Apple can make its cardboard packaging smaller.
