Plenty of exciting new content is being planned for August, even if there aren’t any massive AAA games launching next month on PlayStation consoles. And Sony could help fill the void by releasing another strong PS Plus lineup for August 2020 subscribers. July’s free PS4 games were revealed June 29, meaning that the tech giant has broken its usual pattern of waiting until the last Wednesday of the month.
This makes it a bit harder to predict when August’s news will be announced, but it’s likely to happen closer to the end of the month.
We already know that the current batch of free PS4 game will be replaced on August 4, so that gives Sony a short window to reveal its plans.
Early August will see the likes of NBA 2K20, Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and Erica replaced by a new batch of titles.
We have no clue yet on what the PS Plus August games will be, only that Sony has been choosing strong lineups more often then not.
And while we might be waiting a little long to find out what is being planned next, we do know about another PlayStation bonus being planned for next month.
As confirmed by Squad Enix earlier this month, fans will be given the chance to play Marvel’s Avengers before it hits shelves in September.
This will come in the form of several beta weekends, some of them requiring a pre-order of the full game, while others will be open to everyone.
This should mean that all gamers will get the chance to play at least twice on the PS4, even if they don’t have a pre-order in place.
There will also be similar chances to play Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox One and PC, however, the PlayStation platform will offer the most weekends.
Square Enix hasn’t said much on what will be playable during the Avengers beta but they have confirmed that news will be shared during a live stream War Table event being held on July 29.

“August 21: Open BETA for All: August 21 – 23 will give all fans across all platforms a chance to jump in and play the Marvel’s Avengers BETA! Pre-load will be available on August 20.
“You will need a Square Enix Members account to participate in the Marvel’s Avengers BETA. We use the Square Enix Members account to validate pre-order codes and content, as well as to deliver post-launch content, like new heroes, new missions, and new regions at no cost.
“We recommend that anyone planning on buying the game go ahead and register their account early, so they’re not caught in potential launch-day delays. In fact, everyone who signs up for an account will receive an exclusive Thor nameplate in the game.”
