Outlander's Jamie Fraser star addresses changes to series: 'Feels like a different series'

The couple are now settled on Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina with their daughter Brianna (played by Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger Mackenzie (Richard Rankin) but Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) often quite restless. They are known for moving around having fled Scotland in Outlander season one for France. In season three, they left Scotland again and headed to the Caribbean. Reflecting on the past five series, actor Sam noted it felt like a completely different show now.

Speaking in a Q&A with Deadline, Sam explained: “It’s impossible to be complacent on this show.

“As I said, it’s constantly moving and it’s gone from Scotland through France to the Caribbean and now America and it feels like a completely different show.”

He added: “We’re talking about America in its infancy and there’s so many parallels to everything going on no.

“But it’s been a great show to learn on and I think Caitriona and I, coming in very green, have experienced a lot and its given us great opportunities as well and great people to work with.

Speaking to Gold Derby, the star explained he would probably had to go to therapy to recover from the end of Outlander.

“There’s definitely some sort of ceremony I’m going to have to do,” he said.

“We’ve created a bond between us as actors, as writers, as whole team, we know we’re on something special.

“The fans have been incredible on this whole journeyIf it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be here. Who knows what will happen when it’s all over.”

Many fans are worried Sam could be leaving the show soon as he is the favourite to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

The actor has also made it clear he would love to take on the role.

He said earlier this year: “Obviously it’s a dream for every actor. I auditioned for it back when they were doing Bond 21 when Daniel Craig was cast in Casino Royale and I think a lot of actors were seen in the UK.

“Of course it would be a dream role and a Scottish Bond, who doesn’t want to see another Scottish Bond!”

Outlander seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
