Kalvin Phillips leads Marcelo Bielsa tributes as Leeds seal 'crazy' Premier League return

“They’ve given us everything and allowed us to go and achieve our dreams,” said Cooper. “I’m a 28-year-old man now fulfilling his boyhood dreams. This smile is going to take some wiping off my face.”

Cooper insisted Leeds had always been the standout force in the Championship, where the title is now in their sights.

“It’s unbelievable,” Cooper said. “I’m sure it’ll sink in, we’re just over the moon. Our club, our fans and our players we’ve sacrificed so much, been in the doldrums for 16 years.

“To be part of this team and lead this team back to where we know we’ve always belonged is unbelievable. I’m so proud of these boys, they’ve sacrificed so much, worked so hard and they deserve it.

“We’ve been the best team all season on a consistent level and we’ve got the job done.”
