Man Utd make transfer plan with Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo considered

Manchester United reportedly plan to sign a left-footed centre-back if Marcos Rojo leaves, reports say. There appears to be no way back for the Argentina international at Old Trafford ahead of the summer transfer window. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be set to invest in a replacement at the end of the season.

Manchester United have seen Maguire impress at Old Trafford for the most part since his arrival from Leicester City last summer.

But, despite spending £80million on the England international, Solskjaer is seeking further defensive improvement.

And The Athletic say that United will look at signing a left-footed centre-back if Rojo leaves because they think Victor Lindelof doesn’t have the same passing range.

The Sweden international has been solid for the Red Devils this season, establishing himself as Solskjaer’s favoured partner for Maguire.

But it appears United are seeking to sign an upgrade.

“Marcos has been in lockdown over there [in La Plata], so they’ve not played either,” he said.

“At the moment, I can’t see him coming back here over the summer, obviously because we live in this bubble, and we’ve got this squad available until next season.

“So he just needs to focus on getting fit and staying fit and being ready for wherever that takes him.”

While United want a left-footed centre-back, former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood recently expressed a belief that Leicester’s Caglar Soyuncu would be a good signing.

“I agree with Michael [Owen] I think they’re three players away,” Sherwood told DAZN.

“I think they need extra cover at centre-back. I think Soyuncu – I know Robbie Savage won’t be happy because they’re taking him from Leicester.

“But if the money is right they sell, like they did with Harry Maguire.

“I think he would be outstanding there. He can play on the front foot and keep them up the field.”

Other targets for United include Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.

The Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa players have impressed this season and Solskjaer would love to bring both to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.
