World War 3: Iran executes ‘CIA spy’ who sold missile information to US as tensions spike

A former employee of the ministry of defence, Reza Asgari, was executed last week according to Iran’s judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili. Iran and the US’s relationship has deteriorated in the past few years after a number of incidents.

In June, Iran issued an arrest warrant for the US President Donald Trump.

The warrant was on the assassination of a top Revolutionary Guards general.

Iran asked the International Criminal Organisation (Interpol) to issue a red notice.

Mr Trump is one of 36 people accused of murder and terrorism following a drone strike that left commander Qassem Soleimani dead.

Tehran’s prosecutor said the US President is at the top of the list of suspects.

The prosecutor added that Iran’s judiciary has given the 36 names to Interpol and asked for its aid in capturing the US President.

Interpol has said it will not grant Iran’s request.

Last year, the county said it had captured 17 spies who worked for the CIA.

Some of these alleged spies it said were sentenced to death.

“He had shared information about the whereabouts of martyr Soleimani with our enemies.

“He passed on security information to the Israeli and American intelligence agencies about Iran’s armed forces, particularly the Guards.”

Last year, Mr Trump dismissed claims that Iran had captured CIA spies and sentenced them to death.

In the same year, the Islamic Revolutionary guard claimed it had identified infiltrators trying to steal secrets.

An intelligence ministry official also alleged that CIA-trained operatives penetrated “sensitive” and “vital” private sectors of Iran.

Some of the alleged spies involved were sentenced to execution for being “corrupts”.

US officials initially voiced hesitation but now Mr Trump has described it as a lie.

The US President claimed it was “totally false” and dismissed it as “just more lies and propaganda” in a tweet.
