Lorraine Kelly reveals heartbreaking family reason behind her TV break 'It's been hard'

ITV host Lorraine Kelly, 60, has revealed she will be taking a break from her television commitments to visit her mother Anne and her ill father John, who has a serious heart condition.

The presenter’s parents live in her hometown Scotland, while she is based in London.

Like many others, the host has been restricted to see family members outside of her household due to lockdown measures in recent weeks.

As Government rules continue to ease, she has booked to go and reunite with her loved ones back home.

She told Hello! Magazine: “I need to spend some time with them.

“Just 18 years old in this photo. Grafted all his days and now in being looked after in Hairmyres hospital.

“Thanks to all staff there for taking care of him.”

“She added: “Hopefully he will be out soon and back home. Haven’t seen him and my mum since his birthday in early March.

“Like so many families forced apart by COVID-19. Xxxx.”

While Lorraine is away from her show, Christine Lampard will step in as her replacement from next Monday.

The presenter had been presenting her show from the Good Morning Britain studio in recent weeks, due to new safety measures.

She has now been given the all-clear to return to her own studio.

Lorraine said of her stand-in host: “I always feel very happy about leaving my ‘baby’ n her care.

“She’s such a lovely, kind, down-to-earth woman and viewers love her.”

Lorraine continues tomorrow at 9am on ITV.
