Barcelona backed to complete Neymar and Lautaro Martinez blockbuster double transfer

Barcelona star Luis Suarez says it would not be impossible for his side to sign both Neymar and Lautaro Martinez this summer – and he is open to the challenge both men will present to his place in the starting XI.

Barcelona are already facing a stern fight to meet Financial Fair Play regulations as they look to offload some of their fringe players.

Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Antonio Griezmann have all been linked with moves away from the Nou Camp.

If the Catalan side can raise enough funds they would like to try and capture Inter Milan forward Martinez as they see him as the long-term replacement for 33-year-old Suarez.

The Uruguayan will not fear fighting for his place in Quique Setien’s team should the young prodigy arrive.

“No, on the contrary,” Suarez told Mundo Deportivo. “He is a player who has been performing at a high level in Italy, something that is not easy coming from Argentina.

“If he comes, one is there to help him. He is a young player who also needs to have experienced people at his side.

“It is not easy to come to Barça and play like nothing. One must learn different concepts that one is not used to.

“One is always there to help all the new ones, be it a No 9, a winger or whatever.”

Another star Barcelona are desperate to sign is Paris Saint-Germain winger Neymar, who moved to the Parc des Princes for a world record £198million fee in 2017.

A host of Barca players have tried to convince the 28-year-old to return to the club in recent years.

And Suarez reckons there would be room for the Brazilian regardless of what talent Setien has at his disposal.

“Yes, there the problem would be the coach when deciding, but I think that all great players are always welcome,” Suarez added.

“Ney, everyone knows what kind of player he is, the love that this club has for him.

“He knows the love that the fan and our team-mates have, it is true that the situation that the world is living now, not only football, makes it complicated, but nothing is impossible in football, because incredible things happen, so that possibility may occur.”

Barcelona will look to strengthen their team at the end of the season as they look set to miss out on La Liga glory.
