Piers Morgan inundated with messages as he suffers nasty injury just days into GMB break

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 55, has informed his 7.6 million Twitter followers that he suffered an injury just days into his holiday from the ITV programme. The outspoken journalist revealed he unfortunately “twisted his ankle last night” while hitting back at a cheeky suggestion from a social media user about how he should spend his summer break.

The Twitter user advised Piers to do some exercise while he’s in the south of France, writing: “I’d do some cardio while you’re away Mr Morgan!!!”

GMB favourite Piers then sarcastically replied: “Many thanks for your kind concern.

“Unfortunately, I twisted my ankle last night so the cardio will have to wait.”

Fans took to the comments section of the star’s post to share their thoughts on his mishap.

One person wrote: “Look after yourself Piers, have a great holiday. Lovely to see Kate [Garraway] and Ben [Shephard] in the mornings, a great team, but miss seeing Susanna and yourself.”

Another added: “Nothing worse than an injury at the start of your holiday!”

A third person commented: “Oh dear how did you twist it? Easily done.”

Piers’ tweet comes after he responded to another Twitter user who shared their views on his two month long holiday from the show.

“My pleasure, Michael. Hope you guys manage to get a summer break too – I think we all need it. ps all my fans are weird, relax”, Piers humorously responded.

Piers previously took to Instagram to share a picture of himself boarding a plane with his 1.2 million followers ahead of his trip.

In the social media snap, he could be seen sitting in an aeroplane at Terminal 5 with a protective mask on his face.

Alongside the picture, Piers wrote: “I’m a washed up, knackered pathetic excuse for a celebrity… get me outta here.

“Bye Britain, it’s been… surreal.”

Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard are currently holding the fort on GMB in Piers and Susanna’s absence.

Kate made an emotional appearance on the show last week, ahead of her return to presenting duties, to give fans an update on her husband Derek Draper’s health battle after he was admitted to intensive care with coronavirus.

The star said that Derek had been “very very sick” and that it was a “desperate situation.”

Piers posted a picture of the pair on social media following her return and told fans it was “so lovely” to have Kate and her “fabulous smile” back in the studio again.
