Lucifer season 5 trailer: Who is Lucifer's twin brother Michael?

Lucifer fans finally got their first look at season five of the hit show in a new trailer released by Netflix. The short clip reveals Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) will return but he will be a little different this time around. Here’s everything revealed about the new season and who his brother Michael actually is.

Who is Lucifer’s twin brother Michael?

Lucifer season five, part one will be dropping on Netflix on August 21 after fans have been patiently waiting for more episodes.

Now a brand-new trailer has dropped for the first half of the series teasing what happened after Lucifer returned to Hell.

The clip begins with Chloe Decker (Lauren German) dealing with his absence along with her colleagues at the LAPD before Lucifer seemingly returns to Earth once again.

Following a kiss from Chloe, it is slowly revealed in the trailer this is not actually the Lucifer fans know and love.

In a fight scene with Maze (Lesley Ann-Brandt), he admitted he was not actually Lucifer but his twin brother Michael.

Although, it is not clear how long it will take for Chloe to find out the truth as Michael seems to be pretending to be his twin brother.

In a particularly chilling moment he said: “I’m not going to break Lucifer’s life, I’m going to take it.”

All the commotion caused by his brother seems to bring Lucifer back to Earth to deal with the mess he has made.

In the comics by Neil Gaiman and John Bolton, Archangel Michael is the one who defeats his brother in his revolt in Heaven.

Michael used his god’s power in order to strip his brother of his angelic powers before he was sent to Hell.

However, the story goes Michael was then stabbed by a fallen angel named Sandalphon who imprisoned him in an alternate reality.

Although, it is not yet clear how much the series will take the comic as inspiration for the character.

This is because so far Lucifer has rarely followed the comic books and has only taken them as a very loose inspiration.

Lucifer season 5, part 1 is released on Netflix on August 21.
