Lewis Hamilton pays classy Mercedes tribute after sealing dominant Styrian Grand Prix win

“I love this,” Hamilton said. “I love back-to-backs. Let’s just go back-to-back all year long. I might need a holiday in between races.”

Hamilton takes home 25 points and is now just four adrift of Bottas, who won last week’s race at the Red Bull Ring.

The Brit missed out on an extra point for the fastest lap – which was claimed by McLaren’s Carlos Sainz – but he wasn’t overly worried.

“I tried to get the fastest lap but of course on 40-lap-old mediums I wasn’t going to get it [when up against] someone on new, fresh tyres,” Hamilton said. “But that’s okay. I’m so grateful to be back in first place. And honestly it feels like a long time coming, since the last race last year.

“To come back in this weekend after a difficult weekend at the first weekend last week, this is a great, great step forward.”
