Dan Walker shares 'beautiful' memory in tribute to Jack Charlton: 'Still making an impact'

“Incredible team effort to put it all together in under three hours & special thanks to @MTLawrenson for racing into the studio & sharing some wonderful memories of his time with Big Jack.”

The late footballer’s family shared the news in a statement that read: “Jack died peacefully on Friday 10 July at the age of 85.

“He was at home in Northumberland, with his family by his side. As well as a friend to many, he was a much-adored husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” they said.

They concluded: “We cannot express how proud we are of the extraordinary life he led and the pleasure he brought to so many people in different countries and from all walks of life.”

Jack played in England’s World Cup winning squad in 1966 alongside his brother Bobby and won 35 England caps.
